Awards and recognition

We love to reward our volunteers who have shown excellent service to Girlguiding in Sussex West. There are many different ways this can be done.

Within our county, members can be nominated for the Silver Oak Leaf brooch via the Awards Committee, or may be presented with the County Thanks Badge as a personal acknowledgement for service.

The Penny Hardwick Team Award can be presented to a team who have achieved a special goal or provided a sustained outstanding range of Girlguiding opportunities.

Members can be nominated for the Region Chief Commissioner’s award as well as a variety of national awards – the Good Service brooch, the Laurel award and the Silver Fish. For members aged up to their 26th birthday, a Guiding Star award may be presented for those who have shown exceptional courage or initiative. Applications must also go through the County Awards Committee.
